In our store windows, branches have taken root—bare, gnarled, almost wild. Their leaves have disappeared, replaced by small pieces of colored paper, tied one by one, each bearing a few words in Chinese: a wish, a thought, a dream suspended in the air.
This tradition, which originated in China, involves entrusting one’s wishes to the wind by hanging them from the branches of a tree. The higher the pieces of paper fly, the more likely the wish is to come true.
At Michaud, we wanted to imbue this tree with the same spirit that animates each of our pieces of jewelry: to carry a desire, a promise, or a moment we choose to hold onto. Among the branches, a few pieces can be glimpsed—discreet, as if they, too, were suspended between two breaths.
Come read the wishes. Perhaps you’ll find your own there.
